Anaglyphic Contrast Balance (ACB) 3-D is an embodiment of New Zealand Patent 505513 + U'K' Patent GB2366114 + Australian Patent 785021 + Other Patents Pending.

PATENTED 'ANAGLYPHIC CONTRAST BALANCE' (ACB) ENABLES THE WORLDS BEST ANAGLYPHIC 3-D IMAGING.
(ACB) 3-D is a patented anaglyphic imaging method where the color records of the stereo pair are tuned to prevent retinal rivalry. Selective color adjustments enable contrasts from the full spectrum to be viewed within each color channel. The (ACB) method provides bright dynamic stereoscopic 3-D anaglyphs for still or motion pictures with stable balanced contrasts percieved in color without anaglyphic retinal rivalry.

An anaglyphically viewed contrast balance is achieved from color stereo pairs.
(ACB) achieves an anaglyphic contrast balance every time from any stereo pair and uses full colour for displaying red/cyan anaglyphs.
(ACB) enables instant and perfect results without trial and error for monitor displayed and printed anaglyphs and also for anaglyph 3-D movies projected with one projector.

If you are publishing printed 3-D anaglyphs or producing a 3-D/CD Rom, displaying an anaglyphic 3-D web site, or making an anaglyphic 3-D movie or video, SEND IN A STEREO PAIR for free (ACB) 3-D imaging. and see the difference!
(ACB) 3-D enables the production of the (ACB) 3-D Digital Anaglyphic Camera for instant still or motion (ACB) 3-D.

ANAGLYPHIC CONTRAST BALANCE (ACB) 3-D WILL HANDLE THE MOST DEMANDING STEREO PAIRS, EVEN THOSE WITH PURE PRIMARY COLORS AS IS COMMON IN CGI Computer Generated Images.

    (ACB) serves these functions.
  1. To equalize anaglyphically viewed contrast/brightness between corresponding areas of the stereo pair.
  2. To cause details and graduations of tones from the full spectrum to be presented to each eye.
  3. To adjust colour hues to compensate for being viewing through coloured gel.
  4. To assign degrees of contrast adjustment appropriate to the method of colour channelling used.
  5. To effect control of the overall brightness of the resulting anaglyphic image.

(ACB) 3-D IS AN ACCESSIBLE MULTI-MEDIA 3-D METHOD. IT'S SUPERIOR STEREOSCOPIC IMAGING QUALITY MAKES (ACB) 3-D THE BEST OPTION FOR 3-D PUBLISHING.
(ACB) 3-D is multi-media 3-D. It can be monitor displayed, printed or projected. (ACB) 3-D involves low cost viewing gel and does not require modifications to existing viewing systems. This gives (ACB) 3-D images the advantage for low cost, consumer freindly and accessible commercial 3-D.
Color anaglyphs have been possible prior to Patented (ACB) but there had been difficulty with anaglyphically perceived retinal rivalry over the brightness of hue contrasts between the left and right views and also double imaging. Because of this, anaglyphs have most often been produced as monochromatic to be perceived as black and white.
Patented Anaglyphic Contrast Balance (ACB) has addressed these matters in anaglyphically viewed color 3-D images to enable an improved bright register with dynamic and balanced contrasts percieved in color.

Licensing is available for (ACB) use in Anaglyph Making Software.
Commercial use of the (ACB) production method and the images produced requires licensing. Anaglyph making programs that provide unlicensed (ACB) put users at risk.
If your program selectively adjusts the color records of the stereo pair to display balanced anaglyphic contrasts and brightness, it is using the (ACB) 3-D method and it should be licensed.

If you use AnaBuilder or display images made with it in the countries of patent grant; New Zealand, Australia or the United Kingdom, (patents pending in Canada and the United States) contact Studio 555 for a license.

OTHER PATENTED EMBODIMENTS 0F (ACB) 3-D
Modulating (ACB) Anaglyph
(ACB) anaglyph record consisting of field speed alternations of opposing color channel presentations are viewed with synchronous electro-optic/anaglyphic viewers for a delivery of full color to each eye without the strobe or flicker associated with electro-optic shutters, as each eye has a continuous view. Modulating anaglyphs can be converted from 3-D to 2-D and be viewed in full color or black and white.
Quadrascopic (ACB) 3-D.
The separation of four visual channels from a two dimensional surface such as print or monitor display. An observer may receive concurrent and interactive perception of vertical, diagonal and horizontal parallax with motion via parallax delivery and anaglyphic means. Quadrascopic Anaglyphs can also be modulated for full color.
(ACB) Autostereoscopic/Anaglyph is a quadrascopic system that enables a choice between two autostereoscopic programs from one image signal which can be modulated for full color strobeless delivery without need of viewers. Quadrascopic systems require modifications to existing display apparatus.
However, traditional anaglyphic display with the color spectrum divided between the stereo pair (spectral split) is readily suited and convenient for (ACB) 3-D printed images and for monitor viewing of (ACB) 3-D anaglyphic movies or still (ACB) 3-D images as are presented here at STUDIO 555 via patented (ACB) 3-D imaging

    PRIOR ART IN ANAGLYPH PRODUCTION HAS INVOLVED VARIOUS METHODS THAT ARE CATEGORIZED HERE;
  • Monochromatic (black and white) anaglyphs. Both views are desaturated to black and white. One is then saturated red, the other either green or blue. Other colours may used.
  • Colour anaglyphs.
    A. 'R/GB split' One view is saturated red. The opposing view green-blue.
    B. The red colour plane of one view replaces the red colour plane of the other view.
  • Blends of monochromatic and colour versions such as 60/40 colour/monochromatic.
  • A combinations of the above. Such as one view desaturated to black and white and then saturated red. The opposing view green-blue.
  • Manipulation of the RGB colour planes of anaglyphs and treatments to isolated problem areas of anaglyphs.
Method 1 results in a monochromatic / black and white image.
Method 2 clearly demonstrates retinal rivalry.
Methods 3 and 4 result in degrees between methods 1 and 2.
Method 5 persues color perception at the expense of stereo separation resulting in double imaging.
None of the above achieve a balance of anaglyphically perceived contrasts.
